On the road again...

Didn't I get out of the Navy so I could stop traveling? Oh well, I suppose it is a living. Back to my usual 25% time on the road. This time my week is divided between Seattle (acutally Redmond) and Baltimore (acutally Columbia).

Today is Wednesday which means I spent almost all day in the air. Breakfast in Seattle, Dinner in Baltimore - I bet the Wright brothers are spinning in their graves...

On the Seattle portion of the trip I was travelling with 3 co-workers which was nice. Usually I'm on the road by myself, and that can get really lonely - especially when it's time for dinner. It was nice to have some company. We ended up working late both nights and so only "hit-the-town" after the final night to celebrate a good trip and the completion of our last 3 years of work. On Monday night we simply grabbed a quick bite at an Italian chain-place named Cucina Cucina, which (in Italian) means Kitchen Kitchen. Pedro, one of my co-workers is Puerto Rican and informed us that when he heard us say the name of the restaurant, he was sure that it had to be a barbeque place because in Spanish Cochino means Pig. We had a good laugh over that one. Adding to the fun as we left the restaurant, we walked passed a cookie store named "Cow Chips" - who comes up with this stuff!

Tuesday night, our big night on the town, we ventured into downtown Seattle and made our way past the Space Needle and the E.M.P. toward the waterfront. We ended up opting for a "Seattle Tradition" since this was Pedro's first visit to Seattle - Ivar's Acres of Clams. Everyone had Salmon (I know how predictable) but it was REALLY good - prepared with a Port Pancetta sauce and garlic mashed potatoes - yeah - I ate it all.

Since we were all leaving for the east coast early Wednesday morning, we had made arrangements to stay near the airport on Tuesday night to avoid traffic. Good decision - we made it to the gate as they were boarding zone 4 - but it was all good.

So tonight, I sit in my favorite hotel in Columbia and contemplate the week. Two days of busy and productive meetings at Microsoft, two more days of meetings with my team mates at SAIC.

And the beat goes on...

Welcome To The Farm

Is it a funny farm? You decide...
